UNIMA Pro Circuit Pro UNIMA
Dans le but de permettre aux professionnels de la marionnette d’approfondir leurs compétences disciplinaires, mais aussi de renforcer les liens qu’ils et elles entretiennent avec leurs collègues d’un océan à l’autre, l’Association québécoise des marionnettistes (AQM) et UNIMA-Canada mettent en place un circuit de classes de maître en partenariat avec Casteliers, Pupulus Mordicus, le Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, le Puppetmongers Theatre & Toronto School of Puppetry, le Old Trout Puppet Workshop, la Canadian Academy of Masks and Puppetry et le Festival of Animated Objects. Cette initiative unique est rendue possible graĉe au généreux soutien du Conseil des arts du Canada.
Le Circuit Pro UNIMA est ouvert à tous les professionnels de la marionnette (interprète, scénographe, dramaturge, concepteur·trice, etc.). Chaque classe de maître permettra aux participants et aux participantes de découvrir l’univers d’artistes phares du pays tout en approfondissant leur propre pratique.

In order to allow puppetry professionals to deepen their disciplinary skills, but also to strengthen the bonds with their colleagues from coast to coast, Association québécoise des marionnettistes (AQM) and UNIMA-Canada are implementing a masterclass circuit in partnership with Casteliers, Pupulus Mordicus, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Puppetmongers Theatre & Toronto School of Puppetry, Old Trout Puppet Workshop, Canadian Academy of Masks and Puppetry, and the Festival of Animated Objects. CBC KIDS organise un atelier rémunérée de 3 jours pour les marionnettistes intéressés à élargir leur CV. Enseigné par les meilleurs artistes, ce programme initiera les marionnettistes au monde de CBC Kids, explorera le développement des personnages, le marionnette pour la télévision et plus encore!
Chaque participant se verra également offrir un contrat ACTRA d'une journée pour jouer des marionnettistes dans notre émission pour enfants de CBC, Gary's Magic Fort, en tournage de septembre à octobre 2022.

Mermaid Theatre - Nova Scotia
Mermaid’s expert painter Lisa Bedard surrounded by some of the puppets for It’s OK To Be Different. Le Mermaid Theatre est ravi d'être enfin en tournée à partir d'octobre 2022 jusqu'en juin 2023 à travers l'Amérique du Nord. Ce sera la première tournée depuis le début de la pandémie en avril 2020.
Cette tournée mettra en vedette une pièce intitulée "It's OK To Be Different" basée sur trois histoires de l'auteur acclamé pour enfants, Todd Parr, qui incluent "This Is My Hair", "The Earth" et "It's OK To Be Different". La pièce est conçue pour incorporer une approche sensorielle conviviale de la narration par deux interprètes et un régisseur, utilisant plus de 100 marionnettes colorées.
La musique et la conception sonore sont d'Asif et Sehab Ilias, la narration par l'artiste autochtone de création parlée, Rebecca Thomas, et six enfants de l'Armbrae Academy, Halifax, avec la direction et la conception de la production par Jim Morrow.
Le travail se poursuit également à MermaidTV, avec vingt-sept des trente épisodes terminés pour la série de langues Animalingo qui enseignera de manière ludique aux jeunes enfants les langues et les cultures mi'kmaw, acadiennes et gaéliques avec l'aide d'artistes/conteurs, Trevor Gould, Anika Lirette et Mary Jane Lamond et les marionnettes Wowkwis (renard), Lapin (lapin) et Coara (mouton). Mermaid Theatre is excited to be finally touring once again beginning this coming October, 2022, until June of 2023 to venues throughout North America.This will be the theatre’s first offering since multiple companies were forced off the road due to the pandemic in April 2020.
This tour will feature a play titled, It’s OK To Be Different based on three stories by acclaimed children’s author, Todd Parr that include, This Is My Hair, The Earth, and It’s OK To Be Different. The play is designed to incorporate a sensory friendly approach to storytelling by two performers and a stage manager, using over 100 colourful puppets.
Music and sound design is by Asif and Sehab Ilias, narration by indigenous spoken word artist, Rebecca Thomas, and six children from Armbrae Academy, Halifax, with direction and production design by Jim Morrow.
Work continues at MermaidTV, as well, with twenty seven of thirty episodes completed for the Animalingo language series that will playfully teach young children about the Mi’kmaw, Acadian, and Gaelic languages and cultures with help from artists/storytellers, Trevor Gould, Anika Lirette, and Mary Jane Lamond and puppets Wowkwis (fox), Lapin (rabbit), and Coara (sheep). Happy Pride Month everyone from all of us here at Mermaid!!!

River Clyde Pageant - New Glasglow, PEI
Franziska Glen et Lily Falk du Gale Force Theatre passeront cet été à travailler comme apprenties au River Clyde Pageant à New Glasgow, Î.-P.-É.! Grâce au généreux financement du Conseil des arts du Canada, Franziska et Lily se joignent au concours pour leur sixième saison de performances extérieures à grande échelle. Franziska est en apprentissage avec Ian McFarlane et Evan Medd pour construire de grandes marionnettes en papier mâché pour l'évènement tandis que Lily travaille aux côtés de Jane Wells et Marti Hopson dans le département de musique. Ils ont tous deux hâte de faire connaissance avec la communauté des marionnettistes qui se rassemble de partout au Canada pour créer The River Clyde Pageant. Olivia Faye Lathuillière participera à la troisième édition de la résidence de création et de diffusion Avatar-MUTEK.
Sélectionnée par le jury, l'artiste poursuivra le développement de « Déliquescence cosmique », un projet se situant à la croisée de la science physique et la chorégraphie des matières et de l’énergie, qui obéissent aux lois universelles.
Présentation de travail en cours le 27 Août à la SAT ( Société des Arts Technologiques ) Dans cette pièce, un fluide magnétique est piégé dans un châssis, en tant que reflet, où une ombre est manipulée pour agir comme un exercice de façonnage de la représentation de soi et de l’humain, entre mutation, attraction et fusion dans sa réflexion cosmologique. La recherche consiste à développer la physicalité de la matière pour l’utiliser comme élément chorégraphique et sonore dans le processus de création visuel. Ce projet est produit dans le cadre de la résidence de création et de diffusion MUTEK-avatar, en août 2022.

Déliquescence cosmique is a work in progress at the crossroads of physical science and the choreography of matters and energy that obey universal laws. In this piece, a magnetic fluid is trapped in a frame, as a reflection, where a shadow is manipulated to act as an exercise in shaping the representation of the self and the human, between mutation, attraction, and fusion in its cosmological reflection. The research consists in developing the physicality of matter to use it as a visual choreographic element and by converting magnetic variations into sound. All bodies attract each other whether they are terrestrial or celestial. Gravitation is not a real force but rather a phenomenon caused by a deformation of space and time by the masses. Déliquescence cosmique raises the question of our relationship to post-humanism and the anthropocentric approach we have with space-time.

Le Théâtre À l’Envers, une compagnie de théâtre de création basée à Montréal offrant principalement des créations en théâtre jeune public, intégrant la marionnette au jeu d’acteurs et à d’autres disciplines artistiques, est fier de mettre sur pied en collaboration avec la compagnie Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust de New Delhi en Inde, un stage de théâtre d’ombres virtuel le samedi 9 juillet 2022 à 9h00 (heure de Montréal, Québec) sur Zoom. Ce stage est rendu possible grâce au Bureau du Québec à Mumbai, qui cherche à créer des ponts entre le Québec et l’Inde, ainsi qu’à CINARS, qui offre des opportunités aux artistes canadiens de développer des relations à l’international avec des diffuseurs et compagnies étrangères grâce à la mise sur pied d’une biennale, de missions à l’étranger et d’appels à projets. Ce stage est proposé en partie en présentiel et en virtuel à des marionnettistes de l’Inde, qui sont reçus dans les studios de la compagnie Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust. La partie virtuelle du stage sera offerte par le Théâtre À l’Envers. Elle est également ouverte gratuitement à des marionnettistes du Québec et du reste du Canada.
